Sam F. Hutchins was born and grew up in London. She studied archaeology and ancient history at Exeter University, and has worked in communication, archaeology and in teaching. She is now a senior lecturer in English literature and creative writing at Orléans University, France. She writes historical novels, academic publications and short stories. She is married to an archaeologist. They have three daughters and live near Paris.
