Dr Jacqueline Riding is an historian and art historian specialising in eighteenth- and early nineteenth century British History and Art. She is a consultant for museums, galleries, historic buildings and film. She was the adviser on Mike Leigh’s Mr. Turner (2014) and Peterloo (tbc). Her books include Jacobites: A New History of the ’45 Rebellion (Bloomsbury 2016, paperback 2017) and Basic Instincts: Love, Passion and Violence in the Art of Joseph Highmore (Paul Holberton Publishing 2017). She is currently writing a narrative history of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre and a biography of William Hogarth.
