Peter Popham was a foreign correspondent with The Independent for many years, and while chief of the paper’s South Asia Bureau wrote India Be Damned, a novel set before and during the Partition of the subcontinent, published by Camphor Press in 2022. He is the author of several other books, including Tokyo: the City at the End of the World, and The Lady and the Peacock: the Life of Aung San Suu Kyi, which was an international bestseller. He has recently completed a novel set before and during the English Civil War entitled An Arrow Against All Tyrants, which is seeking a suitable publisher.
