As he waits for the ships to gather in a hidden loch in the West Highlands, he meets Olivia, the cosseted daughter of an aristocrat, adrift from her sheltered home, yet relishing her new freedoms.

Charlie, a young Fleet Air Arm pilot tasked with keeping the Merchant convoys safe, is also stationed here, and falling for Olivia.
