Line in the Sand

Line in the Sand

Line in the Sand

17/11/2025 by Alistair Forrest

1000 BC

Believed to be a child of adultery, young Dawid has been treated as an outcast all his life. Forced to take refuge in the stables at Beth Lechem, his birthplace, he makes his living as a shepherd and thief.

After a fateful visit from Shemu’el, a revered prophet, Dawid is given the chance to leave behind his humble beginnings. Recruited as a spy, he is sent to the city of Gath to discover all he can about the military might of the Philistines, whose imperial ambitions could lead to war.

But when he is betrayed, Dawid finds himself thrown into prison. His only way out is to fight the fearsome Golyat — Gath’s champion warrior — in an arena for the entertainment of the Philistine nobles.

Though faced with impossible odds, Dawid is determined to fulfil his mission. But as the Philistines prepare to declare war on his people, he begins to wonder whether there is any way to prevent a bloody massacre…

LINE IN THE SAND is a thrilling espionage adventure based on the story of David and Goliath.

‘A gripping and exciting read, well-researched and convincing’ — Peter Tonkin, author of The Ides
