Generaloberst Erich Hoepner: Panzer General and Anti-Hitler Plotter

Generaloberst Erich Hoepner: Panzer General and Anti-Hitler Plotter

Generaloberst Erich Hoepner: Panzer General and Anti-Hitler Plotter

05/08/2026 by Philip Kay-Bujak

This 130,000 word assessment of one of the most important figures of the Second World War is long overdue.

Pushed aside by negative publicity by the Nazi regime and tragically executed for his role in the military resistance against Adolf Hitler, Erich Hoepner was one of Germanys leading combat commanders at the start of Operation Barbarossa in 1941. Having the courage to oppose Hitler meant obscurity between 1942 and 1944 which is part of the reason Hoepner has been omitted from the history books. However detailed new research amongst the German sate archives means that this book can re position Hoepner not just as a member of the military resistance but also one of the most dedicated and central figures in the whole conspiracy.
