Ace, King, Knave

Ace, King, Knave

Ace, King, Knave

14th April 2015 by Maria McCann

London, 1760s: a city whose veneer of genteel civility is cracking from the hypocrisy and violence bubbling underneath ― and where two women, the demure Sophia and the determined survivor Betsy-Ann, are about to discover what really lies beneath their own lives.  Sitting in her Bath parlour and newly married to the charismatic Mr Zedland, Sophia can hardly believe her luck, especially since she is hiding a ‘little weakness’ from her husband.  Betsy-Ann, a gambler, living with a grave robber and dealing in stolen goods, knows there’s no honour amongst thieves, yet desperately longs to make a fresh start.  When both women uncover horrifying secrets about the men they thought they knew, their lives interweave through a dramatic series of events.  Who will come up trumps?
