Rebecca Jenkins

A love of Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances and the Baroness D’Orzy’s tales of the Scarlett Pimpernel lead Rebecca Jenkins to collect diaries and journals from the Georgian period from her teens.  Her first job, aged 14, as an usherette and dresser at the theatre-in-the-round at the Royal Exchange in Manchester inspired an interest in theatre and celebrity .   After studying history at university these interests combined in her first biography, The Reluctant Celebrity, about 19th century actress Fanny Kemble.   A Royal Literary Fellow at York St John from 2009-2011, Rebecca Jenkins lives in Teesdale in the North East of England, the setting for her 1800s FR Jarrett mysteries.
