Merryn Allingham

Merryn Allingham

31st March 2015 by Maureen Stenning

I was born into an army family and spent my childhood on the move. Unsurprisingly it gave me itchy feet, and in my twenties I escaped from an unloved secretarial career to work as cabin crew and see the world. The arrival of marriage, children and cats meant a more settled life in the south of England, where I’ve lived ever since. It also gave me the opportunity to go back to ‘school’ and eventually teach at university.

I have always loved books that bring the past to life, so when I began writing myself, the novels had to be historical. Writing as Isabelle Goddard, I published six Regency romances. Since then, I have set my books in the early 20th century, a fascinating era that I love researching and writing about. History still holds sway for me, mixed in with a helping of intrigue and a sprinkling of romance.
