Mark Wightman is the multi-award nominated author of Waking the Tiger and Chasing the Dragon, historical crime thrillers set in pre-second world war Singapore.
Waking the Tiger was shortlisted for the CWA John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger, the Scottish Crime Debut of the Year Award, and the Ngaio Marsh Award, and was longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize for the Scottish Crime Book of the Year. Chasing the Dragon was shortlisted for the New Zealand Booklovers Book of the Year.
Mark was born in Edinburgh before growing up in Asia – first in Hong Kong, and then in Singapore. After a career in media technology, he completed master’s degrees in Creative Writing, first at the University of Edinburgh, and then at the University of East Anglia, where he received a distinction for Waking the Tiger. Mark was the winner of Pitch Perfect at the Bloody Scotland Crime Festival, also for Waking the Tiger, and he was selected to perform as a UNESCO City of Literature Story Shop emerging writer at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Mark now divides his life between Scotland and New Zealand.
