Laurence O’Bryan has three traditionally published thrillers, almost historical fiction now, as well as a series set during the late Roman Empire, beginning with The Sign of the Blood. The series follows the life of Constantine the Great. The novels cover his rise to power and eventual coronation as the emperor of a unified Roman empire.
His rise to power in the city of York (Eboracum) after his father’s untimely death was what inspired me to write the series. That must have been an interesting moment. His father was planning a final solution for the tribes north of the wall, but all that was abandoned after Constantine was proclaimed emperor by the troops at York.
I am currently writing a series set in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Hastings. This centers around the flight to Dublin by two of King Harold’s sons and their subsequent raids back along the Somerset coast.
I also founded the International Dublin Writer’s Festival and I have spoken at the London Book Fair and other writers’ conferences. I live in Dublin
