Claire Mabilat

Claire Mabilat

16th February 2019 by Claire Mabilat

Claire Mabilat is a British music historian living near Paris, in France. Following her PhD in music history at the University of Durham, she lectured there part-time and started to publish.

She has chapters on orientalism in two books in the series ‘Music in Nineteenth-Century Britain’ (Ashgate, now Routledge), and has also published the history book Orientalism and Representations of Music in the Nineteenth-Century British Popular Arts, in the same series.

Following a career break to emigrate, learn French and start a family, she is now working on a historical novel based on the life of a sixteenth-century European composer.
