The Viking Hostage

The Viking Hostage

The Viking Hostage

28th February 2020 by Tracey Warr

Set in late 10th century France and Wales, The Viking Hostage weaves together the stories of three women living through a time of turbulent power struggles across Europe, Viking raids, and fears of The End of Time. Sigrid is a Norwegian pagan who is captured and sold into slavery in the French Limousin. Aina is the heiress of the French fortress of Segur and resists the unwelcome pressure of an arranged marriage. Adalmode, daughter of the Viscount of Limoges, is also a marriage pawn between noble families, and endures a hopeless love affair with a man who is her father’s prisoner. Their friendship and stories tangle with questions of nobility, freedom, and courage as they create their own means of escaping the often brutal pressures of early medieval society.
